How To Develop A Deep Voice

Posted in Personal on June 30th, 2005 /

So now that iTunes 4.9 is out which features support for my latest obsession called Podcasting, all the hours in my day that were filled with music are now filled with spoken dialog. I have several shows which I am subscribed too which have given me hours upon hours of enjoyment.

One show which is titled Morning Stories features the voice of Tony Kahn who directs and produces the show on WGBH. His voice is deep, somewhat gruff and all around hot. I don’t know what he looks like, which lets me use my imagination, but on to my point. The type of voice I just described almost always guarantees utter hotness in old men.

How does one go about getting a good radio / doctor voice? Do you have to smoke or drink a lot while you are younger? I don’t smoke but do consume my share of the sauce. Does anyone know that answer to this? I don’t want to miss out on my chance to have a nice sexy voice when I am older. Google came up empty.

You gotta smoke like two lighters a day worth of cigarettes to get a deep husky voice!

2. January 19th, 2006 at 12:49 pm #Abraham

Yeah, but I was hoping there was another way to go about it that wouldn’t lead to lung cancerous conditions. This is America, home of competing erectile disfuntion pills! Surely if they can come up with something for that then there must be some pill I can take. Also, are you telling me everyone with a husky voice is / was a chain smoker?

What about people who try to change their gender… I mean, for example if a woman feels she is a man cought in a woman’s body, she might take hormones to get a deeper voice…

4. January 19th, 2006 at 12:50 pm #Anonymous

I’ve tried talking deeper and it’s taken almost a year now and I’ve finally found a deeper voice, it takes a while to master because at first you sometimes slip back into your higher voice and you get people saying your voice sounds different but after a while it’ll wear off (the questions from people that is, or hopefully they will) - having a high pitch voice when you’re a guy can be a pain in the ass but keep talking deeper and eventually you’ll speak with a deep voice all the time.

The best way is to begin singing Opera. Practice, practice, and you`ll discover new tones of your voice. The best place to practice would be under the shower. Cigarettes, alcohol– forget that!

Well i dont see any problem in this there are so many audio tapes you can download off the internet. Basically find a specific tape or a program you are looking for and search for it using “bla bla bla” with the word “torrent” at the end.

peace out :)

Couple things.
One, speak slower. This will allow your voice to resonate, vibrating out of your chest.
Try getting some Barry White, and try to imitate that deep voice, “Practice What You Preach” is a good one.
You might consider getting a tape the recorder, so you can listen to your own voice (which you probably won’t like, but don’t worry, nobody likes their own voice).
Good luck

I developed a very deep voice right after puberty. It’s not as deep as Barry White’s, but akin to his.

It is quite easy to make your voice deeper. For one, as said above, talk slower. Second.. well, this is mostly genetics, but hope your vocal cords are longer than most. Perhaps another tip: speak with your chest. Tip your head down when you speak, as it seems to make a voice deeper when done correctly. I believe this makes the vocal cords themselves wider, thus allowing them to vibrate more.

Perhaps listen to a band with a deep-voiced singer and try to imitate it. I don’t really know how else.. lol, my voice is deep without trying. :-\

Im an 18-year old dude, and I sound like a boy. Almost no bass what-so-ever in my voice… that sucks

11. November 29th, 2006 at 8:44 pm #Quiet Teen

God danmit!

I hate my voice… First of all, I can’t project it well in social situations due to fear of being made fun-of because of my slightly-female-like voice.

How the hell am I going to survive highschool and get a girl with a voice like this?

If anyone has any tips or methods for a deeper voice… Please, share them.
Don’t reccomend hormones, drugs, or voice lessons. All those options are obsolete since I’m a minor.

Thanks.

Man its all about the way you grow. U need to enter a spiritual center with your one’s self. The only path is that of which can not be found. Unless of corse u visit your inner contraption. I dont even know man, peace

13. January 23rd, 2007 at 2:07 am #Sl4vik

So as Som said it’s probably good practice listening to a band with a vocalist who has a really deep voice, and then imitating him/her?
If you can’t think of anything check out Till Lindeman from Rammstein (it’s a german band)

Beyond that there is a wide array of chemical substances that you can take to make your voice deeper like: Sulphur Hexafluoride. It has the opposite effect of helium.

(btw dont do that it’s not a very good longterm idea)

Practice, Practice, Practice, Practice, Practice, Practice, Practice, Practice, Practice, Practice.

PS: You might consider looking into German since it’s more of a “guttural” language, i for one am German and i do notice that my voice sounds a lot deeper when i speak German.

14. February 13th, 2007 at 3:02 pm #ng

yeah im 21 but my voice aint the deepest. I get so much stick for it but it aint my fault.

15. March 15th, 2007 at 8:37 am #Mick

okay i think someone’s gotta research how the voice gets deeper when you’re sick or just waking up. maybe sometime of mucous/film on the vocal chords? This can’t be impossible to replicate. someone get on it and get rich! let us know if any1 figures out how to do this. I’ll subscribe to the rss below. thanks.

Hey all -

18 here, almost 19.

I have a deep voice, but not as deep as I would like, though I am amazing at saying Telemundo, and people think I would be a great moviephone rep.

I have discovered that inhaling Ramen Noodle fumes and rubbing Vicks Vapo rub or oatmeal on my chest every night when I go to bed helps.

PS: I have to wash my sheets often.

17. April 19th, 2007 at 3:09 pm #The Tiger Within

First drink a whiskey. Then go to the zoo and listen to the tigers when they are feed. Try to make that growl. When you suceed in making the tigers notice you growling, and not in the sense of you beinf the prey, then you have suceeded. Then go home and sing some Elvis Christmas songs for your loved ones. And yeah, be sure not to growl at your loved ones…

Hey there Sl4vik, sprichst du deutsch? Also, bist du oder kommst du aus Deutschland? Oder vielleicht du bist in Amerika aufgewachsen. Anyways, yeah I am almost 21 and hate my voice with a passion. It’s too high, I think it just didn’t get any deeper than age 13 or so. I do find however like you said that when I speak German, it’s a little bit deeper. Although of course when you well German, naturally the voice escalates! But it is now my goal to try and force myself to speak with a lower voice, and hopefully after maybe a month’s time it will set in. Thanks for the advice guys.

Hi all,
I believe I have all the talent, looks, will-power and exosure to radio & TV having worked here for more than 4years behind the scenes.
My problem really is that I just can’t go on air due to my bad voice. I need help especially to make my voice deep enough for a male announcer, and how to nurture it. i have tried almost everything(smoking, drinking…etc), but my voice is still hidden inside. It’s deep from the inside, but my throats sounds tottaly blocked,or like I have a permanent cold. It’s so frustrating, but I always sound super good in the morning, but not for more than 30min after I wake up, then it goes back inside.

Thanks.

21. June 1st, 2007 at 11:53 pm #Sl4vik

Hey alex ‘tschuldigung das ich dir nicht sofort geantwortet habe =P

Anyways yeah I grew up in germany, and i live in the states now…so technicaly im german (at least i like to consider myself more german than american with current world events)

Apart from that i can definatly see that it can be incredably anoying to have a high voice in highschool.
I almost want to tell people to live with it, that they will change eventually. But that’s easy for me to say since i dont have that problem.
But still consider making it part of you for the time being, make it part of you character…of why people should like you. Ive never been very good at this sort of inspirational talk…but i hope you people kinda get my drift. =P

24. June 20th, 2007 at 3:39 pm #Smacky Da Frog

I found a very easy way to get an ultra deep/sexy voice. For one, loud singing. For example, if you know the band Slipknot, you will know they scream alot in their songs. Scream (sing) along with them in the song. Turn up the music really loud when you are alone or in your car and sing along, don’t forget to add the slight growling sound associate with metal music. At first your vocal cords with itch/tickle/hurt, but you get used to it and your voice gets deep as hell. Also, as they said, speaking slowly helps too.

25. June 20th, 2007 at 3:43 pm #Smacky Da Frog

To clarify my previous post. I meant what you do is SCREAM. SCREAM so loud that it hurts your vocal chords. Get a heavy metal song or a song with growling and generally loud awesome screaming, turn it up really loud and sing along. Try to sound exactly like them. Cory, the singer of Slipknot is perfect, I like to sing along to the song “Duality” which you can watch on YouTube here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=p8NcPvdZ3Go Also, have you ever watched interviews of singers? You’ll notice that some for example Trent Reznor of NIN and Cory of Slipknot have ultra deep voices. For a perfect example of what your voice will sound like after screaming, watch this inverview of Trent Reznor, your voice will sound similarly deep: http://youtube.com/watch?v=xr8FXnur5Z4

26. July 8th, 2007 at 10:55 am #Jon

Hey dude, i don’t think you should hurt your vocal chords. Try to check out “vocal power”, it took me along time to find this stuff. But I think it looks very interesting, it has been used by actors like: Sean Connery, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt etc.
So, don’t hurt your vocal chords, get some real training.

27. July 8th, 2007 at 11:04 am #Jon

Sorry, vocal awareness that is.

Thank you everyone for the advices, interesting.

My advice, which is by far the best one, it’s to

have strong expressos.

Not good for your bowel though. :)

take care, and keep posting.

I let you know, if any of this works.

Hey im into metal. does anyone have any ideas of being able to sound like the lead singer of Amon Amarth?

31. September 13th, 2007 at 7:59 pm #Stephen

I’m only 17, and I honestly sound like Barry White’s son. It’s actually weird, because it both seduces and scares the ladies. Deep voices and LOUD snoring run in my dad’s side of the family, so I’m lucky, and it came into FULL effect between ages 15 and 16. Something I would do is clear my throat and drink a little bit of water, lukewarm tea, or something like that, followed by some practice. Don’t just try to get it deep, but try to get it to resonate. Project that deep voice!

32. September 27th, 2007 at 9:53 am #nc

u ever find something

33. September 27th, 2007 at 10:07 am #nc

Wht can i do or take to have a deep voice.
I am 17 years old and sounld like a girl
I dont like that plz help

34. October 9th, 2007 at 9:27 pm #Roger

I’ve started doing a simple breathing exercise which should help you get a few notes or even a whole octave lower after a while of developing. All you have to do is breathe deep with your diaphragm, NOT shallow with your chest. Don’t flex your abs while doing it, make it natural. Practice whenever you can, I usually do it at night in bed. After a while, it will become natural.

Listen to Rammstein. Till has a nice, deep voice, try to immitate him. Rammstein makes good music too.

Sleep. Ample of sleep is needed to develop a good voice. Whenever you speak, speak with confidence.

41. December 18th, 2007 at 11:32 pm #what is dis

I find that my voice gets much deeper after having sex, you should definitely try that. I don’t know why but it might be the position of the testicles.

42. December 19th, 2007 at 7:09 pm #carlon

Hi folks

Some excellent advice here, thank you. I’ve started the ding dong king kong bing bong excercise, is there anything else I should try to ge as deep as possible?

43. December 21st, 2007 at 7:08 pm #Raymond

having a deep voice is not all its cracked up to be, i have a pretty deep voice, well really deep, its been deep since i was about 13 (21 now)… but its harder to project a deeper voice, so people end up never hearing me, and my voice doesnt travel more than a few feet in front of me. but i dont know if its more appealing to women or anything. but when i have a cold my voice drops to almost below hearing range. when you DO get a deep voice, you have to speak slower, not just because it makes it sound lower, but because the sound just jumbles all the words together if you dont. BUT dont let me discourage you. I’ve heard good things about using the falsetto to increase range. good luck.

p.s. anyone know why the voice is deeper in the morning? so weird..

44. December 29th, 2007 at 10:23 pm #Steve

Talk slower. Drink teas. Smoke. There you go.

45. January 9th, 2008 at 5:43 pm #carlon

I’ve never smoked and don’t plan to, is there anything else I can do without damaging my health? How about a drug for instance. Also, how long do you have to do the ding dong bing bong exercise before it has any effect?

46. January 23rd, 2008 at 2:25 pm #Trying

hello, ive been trying to sing in a grittier voice.
i can talk in a deep voice but when i sing i sound like a little kid.
well im in tune actually and at the same pitch but cant get that grittiness.

my goal is to sound like carl barat from the libertines (and dirty pretty things)
and this is the song that i have been practicing (its the perfect voice i want)
and like i said, im on tune and dont need my voice any lower (he isnt that low) but i need that grittiness.
if anyone could help with out the option of alcohol or smoking that would be great, ive found that coffee works a bit, to get some flem in your throat.

Good day all, i have a very deep voice, got it when i was around 13 years old, (17 now)and when i speak normal, i got a deep voice, but can make it like twice as deep when i go to the right with my head. You know the muscle in the neck/throat, the one at the right side of my jaw, it seems like there’s some hole, or maybe muscle training done… what made it deeper.
try going far down with your head. left and right.

50. January 28th, 2008 at 1:42 pm #XeriuX

btw, @ Robert, i noticed alot of people got it from their 13th… might be some kind of deep voice year for some of us :P

51. February 3rd, 2008 at 11:17 pm #James

I’m an 18 year old guy,I’m tiny and i’ve got a stupidly deep voice… lol. just practice.

52. February 26th, 2008 at 9:21 pm #Nikc

“p.s. anyone know why the voice is deeper in the morning? so weird..”

It’s probably because as the day goes on, your vocal cords “warm up” and thus vibrate faster and easier, creating higher sounds. In the morning, you’ve been dormant for most of the night (excluding sleep-talkers and the like), so they haven’t become flexible enough yet.

53. February 26th, 2008 at 10:49 pm #notjohndoe2
I’ve tried talking deeper and it’s taken almost a year now and I’ve finally found a deeper voice, it takes a while to master because at first you sometimes slip back into your higher voice and you get people saying your voice sounds different but after a while it’ll wear off (the questions from people that is, or hopefully they will) - having a high pitch voice when you’re a guy can be a pain in the ass but keep talking deeper and eventually you’ll speak with a deep voice all the time.
yeah, i can practice and some mornings i’ll just wake with a ridiculously low voice, but if i neglect it, it leaves, it bugs me cause like right now i cant do it, and i wanna sing like calving johnson, haha

say “king kong ding dong bing bong” over an over. its a vocal exercise the lenghtens your chords. works for me

55. March 5th, 2008 at 2:08 pm #J

The secret is strengthening the neck muscles around your vocal chords so that they do not have to tighten up in order to help support your neck.

(The reason why you sometimes wake up with a nice deep voice is because your vocal chords have been able to relax throughout the night. They can permanently be relaxed if your surrounding neck muscles are strong enough.)

Doing neck exercises requires no equipment (look them up online) but consult your doctor before hand and get his blessing before doing any kind of physical acitivity

Hi im a boy of 15 years of age and my voice broke at 13. As i was in year 9 still and the only boy in my year to start puberty so long i wasnt ready to have a deep voice. Please help anyone?

57. March 17th, 2008 at 6:21 pm #SLAViK

First of all, lol this thread has been around for a long time.

Secondly I want to point out (as I tried before farther up in the thread) to express my belief that if you put your mind to it you can pretty much achieve anything…including a deep voice.

Mind over matter anyone?

However if you lack the self confidence in your mind to be able to achieve such a goal, the next best step would be Professional training.

Now the downside to that is that it’s gonna cost some $$$ so if your a 14ish boy who can’t afford it and is to embarrassed to seek help. Then do what plenty of the other posters said before me, which is practice.

After all your body is not some object that stays in a single state for all eternity, it adapts, in this case if you keep on practicing the different techniques for developing a deep voice. Your body (specifically your vocal cords, neck muscles etc) will accommodate the fact that your trying to make them vibrate at a lower frequency of a long period of time.

In other words, even if it seems over whelming at first, just keep trying. Take some time every day or what ever the practice routine dictates, and then really do it.

Don’t be like: “meh i did it a bit yesterday, imma watch tv or go outside or w/e”

Be persistent, keep trying….I’m guessing that most of these practices take a a while to make a noticeable difference ( 1-3 months?)

So just keep that in mind, most things in life require a lot of dedication.

Oh…and one last thing, do it with confidence what ever it is your doing. It makes a !!!HUGE!!! difference. I do a lot of dancing (Anything from waltz to raves) and one thing I can’t stress enough is if you don’t do it with confidence you make your self look silly. So be confident and have fun.

PS: Sry for the really long post.

58. March 18th, 2008 at 1:28 pm #Samuel

Thankyou very much i will give it a try and i bet it does work because you are 100% correct in saying that if you put your mind to it you can accomplish anything!!
Thanks

Yeah, im a black guy with a weak voice, but this morning I woke up and it was changed overnight. Im so damn happy. I couldn’t stop talking this morning because I loved my voice so much. Ill probably have to practice to keep it this deep esp since vocal cords become more flexible throughout the day.

Hi,

I really need some help/advice from you guys. I am 25 yr old man. I have some problem with my voice. When I speak with some unknown person over phone they thinks like I am female. I am facing whole lot of mental depression in personal and professional life. Please give me some suggestion.

61. March 25th, 2008 at 10:45 am #Samuel

Well im 15 as i have previously said and iam facing mental and personal depression!!Iam speaking with a deep voice but sometimes i keep going back to going a high pitch.
My advice is to speak from the spot when you first want to say anything dont think just speak and that spot in your throat will stick to that voice for the rest of you life and it will 100% be much deeper!!
I have the same problem that iam not speaking from that spot this means that i have a high voice because i dont have the gut to speak deep!!
Hope this has helped

64. April 20th, 2008 at 3:20 pm #Bill

Okay, I have read the following posts, and this all greatly interests me. I’m currently 17, and I have a very deep voice. I never ‘worked on’ having one, it simply happened. To this day i still don’t really notice how deep my voice is, probably because I’m so used to it, but people always seem surprised. The thing is, having a deep voice isn’t all great. In crowded rooms, no one can hear me. I get drowned out by everyone else’s higher frequencies (like a bass guitar in a rock band- everybody listens to the lead guitar). I never smoked cigarettes and i barely drink, so they are not necessities. I assume my voice is just naturally deep, though it was always unusually low for my age (even when I was eight) however it has grown much deeper since. I currently sing in a rock band, and i do a good amount of shouting at times, and this perhaps has made my voice more gravelly/deeper for both speaking and singing. Also, I think the moderate marijuana smoking I have the habit of enjoying may also have contributed to deepening my voice. Long story short, i suggest you just speak in whatever voice comes out of your mouth naturally. use your higher voice to your advantage. For how long I wished my voice was higher for singing can not be recounted. I lack range, and end up being johnny cash, and I’ve always wanted to sing like Led Zeppelin. But i’ve come to terms with how I am, and now I wouldn’t change it if i could. Celebrate your characteristics. I’m doubting anyone can truly deepen their voice just through habit. I don’t even see why they would want to.

65. April 22nd, 2008 at 6:29 pm #WestCoaster

First I would like to say that I am 18 and very self-conscious about the pitch of my voice and it has haunted me for the past 5 years. I thought my voice had changed 5 years ago, but it hadn’t and I feel as if I need to keep up the voice that people remember me with. I have been trying to talk with a deeper/grittier voice for quite some time now and it has cost me dearly. I think I have some kind of anxiety or something wrong. I haven’t talked to anyone about this. I used to be the man when I was younger, but now I’m literally anti-social because I fear I will sound awful.

I have been looking at this thread for a few months now for updates. I have tried that ding dong king kong ding bong thing on youtube which I don’t think really did anything permanent. I think there is a good point behind the screaming suggestion. The first time I tried the screaming in the evening and I woke up and sounded awesome the entire day, but it has since had no effect. I think the idea behind this similar to lifitng weights, when you lift you essentailly overload your muscles and become bigger and stronger. This is the same with the screaming, you overload the vocal chords and the same happens producing that deeper voice. I will continue to do it and see if it can become permanent. It’s nice to see that I’m not alone on this one, but I think me situation is the worst out of anyone here. Sorry for the long post and thank you for the helpful advice in here.

Well if you keep overloading your vocal cord to the point where it hurts you’ll end up ruining your voice, my advice would if your gonna keep screaming is to scream with your diaphragm, learning to do so will help you not ruining your voice.

Although you might not get the deep voice that your looking for it can only be better than having no voice at all in a few years.

Personally i’ve just started practicing the art of “growling” (singing with a growling tone, that is very deep) that also requires you to breathe with your diaphragm in order to not ruin your vocal cord, and my voice have gotten slightly deeper than it used too.

But use some of the guides you can find in here, and just be yourself it’s not worth avoiding people because your afraid they might “laugh” at your voice, the worst thing that can happen is that people might laugh but the majority of normal people wont do so.

And oh yeah there is always the last few options.. heavy drinking and smoking, either one will kill you on the long run.
Smoking ruins your vocal cord and your lungs.
Heavy drinking ruins your liver.
either might give you a deeper voice but also has negative effects.

dude my voice changes pitch all the time, even during one day. often its when i wake up that its the deepest because im guessing theres a build up of some kind of film on my vocal chords which makes them vibrate slower. this tends to wear off around midday or afternoon and i cant go as low as before, although that can change depending on how much i have spoken in the day. most days i wake up and the film isnt there so i just sound normal which is deepish but not to my liking, but when its there i love it. the only catch when its there is to NEVER clear your throat or cough too hard or else youll rid yourself of the film, however when its there it sounds fantastic and youd be surprised how deep you can go.

i like to think that my voice is that deep most of the time but problem for me is that its just luck of the draw in the mornings so i never know when it will come back, im guessing it has something to do with what you eat the previous day or something.

but hey thats just my theory, see if anyone else has this sort of thing goin on.

Try SINGING lower for a while. Open up the back of your throat and project your voice. You know, just sing something simple, like “Row row row your boat,” but focus on getting the notes low. If you’re near a piano, try singing it all below middle C. Don’t be afraid to open your mouth wider - it’ll bring better results. By the next day, your voice will have already gotten a little lower.

I have a massive problem with voice. I’m on xbox live all the time but I never talk because everyone has a problem with my voice. And, when I do talk like to a new friend that I met that seems like a good person that wont redicule me on my voice they ask the same question “are you a guy or a girl? just wondering.” and I say I’m a guy, then that new person drops completely off the radar because they thought I was a girl! (and girl gamers are rare so thats probably why they wanted to be friends with me…) I mean damn… I’m almost 18 for crying out loud… hell, I’ve even thought of pretending to be a girl so I can say “We got a guy coming to A” and be in peace.

Too much throatiness can mess up your voice, so I don’t recommend that.

When I was taking voice lessons, the ironic thing is that you practice your falsetto to extend your range in BOTH directions.

I’d do “Ahh, ahh, ahhh” with three descending notes, starting at the very top of my range, and then go down, trying to stay in falsetto even in the lower register. You sound like crap for about 3-6 months. But eventually you work the muscles in your throat and nasal cavity and “blend” your higher and upper register, giving you a cleaner tone throughout.

And that means your voice has a full quality, even if you’re not singing low notes. You RELAX your muscles, and RELAX your throat, let your diaphragm do the work, and develop good posture. This opens up your chest, throat, and nasal cavities, and gives your voice more room to resonate.

This is why I think deep voices are associated with strong, confident guys: their voice boxes aren’t bigger, they’re just more relaxed people. If you’re stressed, your muscles will be tight, your voice won’t resonate, and you end up with a wispy, high tone.

And some people are just tenors. Embrace it. If you’re a natural tenor, take lessons. And watch every guy in the singing world be jealous of your range. I sang baritone, and always hated “topping out” while those guys got all the solos.

You could try modeling people with deep voices. See how they breathe and project. Watch how they fluctuate and where their middle tone is, where their lowest tone is. Here’s a guy who’s known for singing with a really high voice, but has a surprisingly deep speaking voice…

First off, ignore everything that’s been said above. As a former vocal education major, I can tell you that smoking, drinking, and screaming will only damage your vocal cords. I think a high pitched voice is better than no voice any day.

What determines the timbre (TAM-buhr) of your voice is the length and thickness of the vocal cords. Outside of male hormone supplementation (by prescription only!), there is no safe way of deepening your voice. Damaging the vocal cords will cause vocal nodes (scars) to form. While initially this will thicken the cords, the cords will thicken and eventually stop vibrating. The vibrations are what we know as a voice.

As a former sufferer of high pitch voice, I can only tell you to have patience. The male voice does not technically reach full maturity until your mid-to late 30’s.

Also if the ladies only care to go out with you because of how your voice sounds, believe me, you do NOT want to go out with them anyway.

82. July 21st, 2008 at 1:01 am #TheAnswer

Well..

My voice use to SUCK (way to high pitch). A couple years Later… now Girls Jock… Hard… (22yearsold). Sum might disagree with my methods(chord509), but the point is they worked.. sum of this might be repetative to whats already been posted but its the combination that does the trick.

1st - scream a phrase(as low pitched as u can) till it hurts a little bit.. but dont over do it.(preferably in a car by yourself). do this about every couple days, and also do it with EXTREME confidence.

2nd - get your neck and throat strong.. by doing “neck-ups”(situps with your neck, make sure to flex your throat as you do this)(untill u can no longer bear it).. every night! right before you go to sleep.

3rd - Drink Tea every night (HOT TEA)

4th - Smoke!(optional) i would reccomend marijuana as a healthy alternative to tabacco…. (i never smoked a cigerett in my life.. but i smoke alot of weed).

5th - (I know this gets old but…..) Speak with EXTREME CONFIDENCE! its when you speak timidly that your voice sounds all weak, high-pytched, and pothetic.

6th - Try as hard as you can to speak (not from your throat) but from the lower part of your chest.. its the kind of thing where at first you will have to focus on doing it to do it and you will often forget to do it.. but the more you do it the more it will become natural to where you dont even have to think about it.

7th - For practice, try flexing your abs and speaking slowly(phone conversations is a good time for doing this exercise)

8th - Patience, Determiniation, Consistence, and Decipline are most imporant in achieving the voice you are seeking..

There you go.. it may seem like a lot, but really its not at all. Most of you will probably try some of these techniques for about a week and then just give up and start searching the forums for sum overnight merical pill.. but the fact is it doesnt exist. Of course this is’t gonna solve all your problems overnight, or even in 6 months… but it will progressivly get better guarenteed…. so start now and quit complaining because your insecurity is half the problem as it is. GoodLuck!!!!!

84. August 26th, 2008 at 8:16 pm #Deeper Voice

Hey everyone,

As one of the posters mentioned, technically the size of your vocal cords is what ultimately determines the depth of your voice. So there is no magical pill or (other than testosterone) that will make your voice deeper.

With that being said, voice training can do wonders for some people. Simply learning how to speak “deep down” from your diaphram in a confident manor can improve the sound of your voice very much.

There are some exercises that you can perform on your own, but I recommend a voice coach.

And come on people, don’t start smoking and screaming just to lower you voice! You will cause damage that will eventually make your voice sound horrible.

85. September 3rd, 2008 at 11:32 am #zed child

this is kinda on topic… after about 34 yrs of riding a bicycle and maybe 100 closed head injuries my body stop producing testosterone (not completely but instead of 600-1200 units i produce under 100units) for about 2.5 yrs i sleept 20 hours per day and every single time i answered the phone i was called “ma’mam”. so i started taking testoserone and mostly the “ma’mam” is over but my voice is still rather high pitched (i think and i don’t sleep near as much). my wife sez i have a hot voice and i often hear the same from other women (i flirt a lot). i don’t think that a lack deep voice will stop you from getting laid, or finding a partner, but you may not command the respect from a shout’d order if you have a voice like mine.

hey .. i had been through these phase .. its such a big pain ..couldnt answer in front of public , was called mam on phone every other tym .. really hurt my morale a lot …having a feminine voice ….

the best thing is to go to a speech therapist … i still remember that day he gave me a newspaper said me to read aloud n then he pressed a finger on my vocal cord , made my chin touch my chest ..all of sudden this magical deep voice occurs …. frnds its ideal to go 4 therapy during vacation… r 1 week off … jus stick on to that voice 4 a week .. it will work wonders ….

it has been a re-birth since then .. i win all public speaking , group discussion , ppl appreciate my voice - as very imposing , authoritative …

guys i never tried smoking r drinking … i wud suggest u not to …

4m a guy who shied away 4m answering attendance to city champion in debating - i never imagined it wud happen ..

i jus feel god did enormous justice after several years, to my voice ….

hope it helps

nothing harm in tryin …

thank u

Well first of all good advise everyone. I have a matured voice i also don’t talk much either. I think talking only when needed can make your voice deeper also if you have ever had a pop up and a guy starts talking in a deep computer like voice , try imatating that.

How to Deepen Your Voice

By Isabella Snow

Clive Owen has one of the sexiest voices in film.

Everyone has their fetish. Some are more varied than others, mine happen to be fairly specific. I look for 3 major things in a man, and a sexy voice is one of them. Fortunately, this is one of the few things any man can have if he’s willing to make an effort. No, not a big effort - a rather small one, actually. We’re talking 15 minutes a day for 3 weeks, give or take. Sound like a hassle? It isn’t. Sound silly? It isn’t. And hey, it’s not like you have to tell anyone you’re doing it. You can skip that and just tell your friends about the chicks drooling over you.

Think I’m kidding?

Don’t underestimate the sex appeal of a man’s voice. It can make an average man hawt. Clooney hot. And that’s not an exaggeration. I once dated someone purely because the sound of his voice turned me on more than anything I’d ever experienced. I still get chills when I think about it. You can have that, too. As a professional singer who has taught a number of people how to sing, I promise you can deepen your voice substantially if you try. I’m not talking about Barry White, or anything. It may have been sexy on him, but I’d giggle if I ever met anyone with that kind of voice. So don’t worry, I’m only talking about dropping down a few notes. You don’t even have to do “real” vocal exercises. All you need to do is practice speaking in a lower range.

For example, recite the alphabet in your regular voice. Slowly. Don’t rush through it. Say each letter fully and completely. When you’re done, say it again, but drop down one note. Repeat the process a few times. If you want to keep going, drop down another note, and repeat that a few times. The idea is to eventually be able to drop down to your lowest note possible. Once you’ve reached your lowest notes, that will make the few just above it seem relatively easy and comfortable. That means they won’t feel, or sound, forced when you use them. Let me rephrase - I don’t want you to use that lowest note in a public setting. Or even a private one. So don’t panic on me, here. It’s just a method to limber up your vocal chords. Once they are trained to be able to go that low, everything else will be a piece of cake. Ready to try it?
6 tips to keep in mind while practicing for those 3 weeks:

1. Speak slowly — The more time you spend on each letter, the more exercise your voice gets.

2. Speak softly — Not a whisper, mind you. But don’t *push* it. That will not make it happen faster and could possibly hinder your efforts.

3. Do it every day — (Every day during the three weeks - not every day for the rest of whatever!) 15 minutes is not a lot of time, so don’t be lazy. You can do this while you’re in the shower.

4. Don’t talk through your nose — There is a slight tendency for people to do this when developing this part of their voice. It will make you sound like you have a cold. Not sexy.

5. Exhale slowly while you are speaking — Learning to do this will give you excellent control over your voice. Many people working on their voice have a tendency to hold their breath when speaking. It doesn’t sound natural. Make sure you don’t do this.

6. Don’t underestimate the power of speaking softly — There is a special groove located between speaking quietly and whispering - find that spot and your woman will turn to mush.

Actors, singers, commercial voice over artists, etc - apart from a rare few - were not born with sex appeal oozing from their voices. They worked on it. Just like I worked on mine. Work on it enough, it becomes second nature. It becomes your *real* voice. What can a deeper, sexier voice do for you? A man with a sexy voice can command a room with one sentence. He gets respect. He gets admiration. And if that isn’t enough for you, he gets women.

xx Isabella
