Thanks to the magic of airline travel, my sister and brother-in-law were able to come down to visit this misplaced yankee for a late birthday celebration. As with any time that I have family visiting from Chicago, the weather sucked, and rained every day. The only logical thing to do was to make a long weekend out of it… drinking.
We caught the first show of “Grindhouse” at The Alamo (great Chris quote: It’s only 11:40 and I already have a buzz!) and then spent the next day visiting all the bars and locals that were shown during the film. Of course, what’s a visit to Texas without BBQ and Mexican food. The introduction of the deliciousness that is that of a Rudy’s breakfast taco, along with the gut-busting all you can eat BBQ at The Salt Lick, was almost too much for their weakened, meat depraved bellies.

While I appreciate being referred to as the son of God–”Julia and Christ Visit from Chicago”–I somehow feel that I may not be worthy of the moniker. For some reason, it’s hard to imagine Christ saying, “It’s only 11:40, and I already have a buzz!” Chris, on the other hand…
