Oh, and I stumbled onto a 2001 Harley-Davidson Road King FLHR that I blacked out to match my bobber. My buddy Edward and I even wired up a stereo for it.

Most notably are the new Vance & Hines Shortshot pipes with black ceramic heat shields. I got rid of my old SEII’s as they were starting to wear and discolor. I did really love the sound of them though, thanks to the Big City Thunder Monster Baffles that I installed in them, so I decided to go the same route with these pipes.

I had to do some measuring and place a couple phone calls to BCT but wound up going with Part # 2001, for those interested in replacing them stock baffles – or in my case, no baffles at all. Better (louder) sound and an increase in back pressure.

Another year. Another June. Another ROT Rally. If only you knew the emptiness I felt inside now that there are another 361 days until it happens again. This year marked the greatest rally going experience – EVER! I don’t even need to go into just how awesome Yellow D-116 was, as I am sure you have read about it. We had the RV spot this year, hands down. So much so that several people came up to us to tell us this… like all the activity, partying, boozing and nudity that was happening right in front of us didn’t tip us off to this revelation. Oh, and there were motorcycles too! Oh, and a little musical extravaganza by an all time favorite of mine… you might know him as The Charlie Daniels Band.

The amount of debauchery that took place this year was immeasurable, which is probably a good thing. I also can’t (well won’t upon this site) share with you the really awesome photos and activities partaken in, but I will tell you this – you owe it to yourself to come down to Austin next year and live through the experience first hand. Let the countdown to ROT 2009 begin!

Despite the fact that my BFF was out of town this weekend, I decided to take a solo adventure out to some of my favorite spots in the Texas Hill Country. I had narrowed down my adventure to two possible activities. The first option being a rally in New Braunfels that was hosting a ride in bike show with a category for “stock motorcycles”. I spent a couple hours on Friday afternoon detailing Bob and even leather conditioning his seat and roll back – he was a sure win.

After I was done, we were sharing a beer and he ultimately told me that he really could give a shit what some judge thought about him. That he was built for danger and adventure… not sitting in a taped off area with a number next time him. He was right. Thanks to his wisdom we both had an awesome day which unfortunately had to conclude way to soon.

By the end of it however I had ridden just over 350 miles, sampled delicious food and beer, saw what seemed to be hundreds of thousands of wildflowers, sampled more delicious beer (the first being at 9:42 am at Harry’s), and came across four other traveling brothers.

As of writing this, there are only 140 Days, 6 Hours and 51 Minutes until the kick off of the 2008 Republic Of Texas Motorcycle Rally. Thanks to my extreme dedication in securing an awesome RV lot for this years rally (they went on sale at 12:01 am on January 1 – how lame), Edward and I scored D116 in the Yellow lot.

To celebrate this momentous occasion, we decided to go out to the grounds, in the rain no less, and crack open a couple 24 ouncers. Good ol’ Miller High Life… it really is the champagne of beers!

Santa brought me this really awesome LED gas gauge to replace the stock one on my Harley-Davidson Street Bob. I already had the matching gas cap, which I won at one of the local monthly H.O.G. meetings.

The blue lights in the teeth extinguish one by one until only the one on the far left remains – then it turns red to warn you of your low fuel level. You can view a larger photo for the maximum amount of awesome.

I was fortunate enough to have been able to update my motorcycle to a much more powerful and old-school model. This is a brand new model for 2006 and posesses a lot of new technology in the Harley-Davidson family.

Below you will find a map that I posted over on my other site, AustinRiders.Com. I was posting it here with the thought that some of you might find it of interest. This is my first attempt at creating a custom ride map but I think it came out nice.

Mike and I have done this run on a couple occasions and it repeatedly has proven very satisfying for both our bikes and bellies. Starting in Northwest Austin, riders wind their way through the twists and turns of Highway 1431 as they enter Marble Falls, home of the famous Blue Bonnet Cafe.

Afterwards, take a ride to see where exactly that cafe got its name. Highway 4 provides excellent dips, curves, and spectacular hill country views. Longhorn Cavern and Inks Lake State Parks provide plenty of off-the-bike distractions for a perfect summer day.

After you have your fill of windy roads, kick back on Highway 29 and feel free to enjoy some of the sections of 70 MPH posted limits. As you enter Georgetown, double back on a favorite local road of mine, 2243.

We finally have a nice afternoon here in Austin after what was literally like a week of rain. I’ll tell you, after that one week of nasty weather I was getting pretty grumpy so my hats off to those <strike>fools</strike> <strike>idiots</strike> people up north who have a whole season of it. In any case, on my way home from putting my new exhaust through its paces I stopped by the park near my house and took some new porn shots of my motorcycle. While 63 photos were taken, I will only present you with four.
